Focal Brain Injury Symptoms

With focal brain injuries, one or several specific areas of the brain are damaged. Symptoms will vary, depending on the severity of an injury and the area of the brain that is damaged (i.e., the frontal lobe, the parietal lobe, the occipital lobe, the temporal lobes, or the cerebellum).  For example, someone who suffers a brain injury with damage to the parietal lobe, may have problems reading. Someone with damage to the occipital lobe may have vision problems or hallucinations.

Brain Injury Symptoms in Children

Infants and young children with brain injuries may not be able to communicate their symptoms, such as pain, confusion, and sensory problems. Medical treatment should be sought immediately after a suspected head trauma or brain injury. Immediate care may prevent brain swelling and additional brain damage.
